Paris, France
Following the principles of equality and peace, French designer Mathieu Lehanneur has revealed the Olympic Torch that will be the protagonist of the Olympic Torch Relay, which heralds the start of the Games and will start in Marseille on May 8, 2024.

“Designing the torch for the Games is a designer’s dream, one that comes around once in a lifetime, like an extraordinary encounter with history,” states Lehanneur.
The inspiration was drawn from the notions of equality, water, and peacefulness as the designer explained.
“At Paris 2024, the torch will reflect our ambition for a French Games, with a strong aesthetic and creative dimension,” says Paris 2024 President Tony Estanguet.
“With this unique, iconic object, we wanted to put form to the service of substance once again, and that’s why we worked with the talented designer Mathieu Lehanneur.”

“To create it, Mathieu Lehanneur drew inspiration from three key elements: equality, reflected in its perfect symmetry; water, evoked by the 3D and light effects; and peacefulness, with the purity of its shape and rounded edges.”
The Olympic Torch is made of steel and 70 cm high and weighs 1.5kg.
It is symmetrical on all sides and features a golden ring separating the smooth top and sculpted bottom.
