Designed by Matteo Nunziati for Bonaldo, the Nelson collection, with which the Venetian company offers an entire range of products for the bedroom, including a bed, bedside table, vanity table, home office, and bench that create an environment imbued with new Bonaldo design inspirations.
For its inclusive design, the Nelson Collection has been recently awarded a 2022 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
Matteo Nunziati studied the work of American designer George Nelson as a starting point, hence, simple aesthetics for a collection based on maximum functionality.
The lines of the Nelson collection are essential, with balanced shapes and proportions.
Each element transmits, albeit with rigorous and contemporary language, extreme care in its manufacturing, and a careful selection of materials such as wood, metal elements, and fabrics.
The key element of the Nelson Collection is the bed whose hallmark features are the clean lines, precise analysis of the shapes and proportions, and the meticulous care taken over the details.
The dramatic and imposing wood headboard which surrounds and frames a smaller, softer, padded headboard is the stand-out feature.
The flat, slimline bed base, also made of wood, rests on slender metal feet: elements that give the Nelson bed the impression of being “suspended” as if it is floating in the bedroom.
In the Nelson L version, the headboard is larger and the bedside tables are incorporated into the bed creating a balanced and elegant result.
The range is completed by the bench with a wood frame and soft fabric cover: an elegant, sophisticated, yet functional element.
